Next stop: the Inca Trail!

Join Wachi Mejia Nina, a G Adventures CEO, as he takes you on a virtual tour of this ancient path through the Sacred Valley. Learn all about its history and marvel at spectacular landmarks and vistas on your way to the legendary site of Machu Picchu. Read on to learn a little about Wachi before kicking off your tour by clicking the video below.

What’s your name, your hometown, and where do you lead tours?

Wachi: My name is Wachi Mejia Nina, and I run adventure tours (hiking and camping), as well as train tours in the region of Cusco that goes to Machu Picchu.

How long have you been a CEO for G Adventures?

Wachi: I’ve been a guide for 10 years!

What is the one must-try local dish or drink?

Wachi: Everyone should at least try a bite of roasted guinea pig, and chica, a drink made with fermented corn.

Tell us one “secret,” not-to-be-missed spot on your tour, and why it’s so special.

Wachi: Hiking is a good way to meditate, and I think hiking the Inca Trail could help any find answers in their life. It gives you perspective and helps you find your purpose.

After travelling with you, what three words would you want your travellers to use to describe your city/region/country?

Wachi: The three phrases I would use are: very cultural, lots of knowledge, and very nice people!

What books/novels would you recommend to travellers who want to escape to your city/region/country via literature?

Wachi: I would recommend “Turn Right at Machu Picchu” by Mark Adams, “Open Veins of Latin America” by Eduardo Galeano, and “History of Tawaintisuyo” (author unknown).

What is YOUR favourite place to travel to (not including your region)?

Wachi: The place I always love returning to is Canada, because of its people — they are trying to build a comprehensive society.

Thanks, Wachi!
