Falkland Islands

Two Emperor penguins on Salisbury Plains with the G Expedition in the backgroud

A rugged slice of England in the South Atlantic

The Falkland Islands have changed hands between France, Spain, and Britain since their discovery of the coast of Argentina in 1592. Composed of two principal islands and a handful of smaller ones, the rocky Falklands offer incredible landscapes for travellers looking for otherworldly photos. A British protectorate, the Falklands offer a curious little slice of England, often with a Spanish accent. If you're on your way to Antarctica, be sure to stop in for a spot of tea.
